Autism Pins

Since I had found out that my oldest Derrick is Autistic among other things I knew that we needed to do our part to make people more aware and to support the cause. This has become more prevelant to me since I have realized that there is little known about Autism. It is a complex and wide variety disability. Not many people know or understand about Autism. If you have a child with Autism it is hard to reach out to people and to get people to understand your stugggles. It is my mission to build some sort of awarness in my community and other communitys surrounding in hopes that it will built just one starting block to the open door of research for this disibility so that we may better understand and cope. Autism needs to be understood and made aware of for the kids out there suffering with this disibility. It is hard for us to live in this world imagine what it is like for them. The more we know the more we can understand and help! My goal is to better share my story through this website of my experiance with my son Derrick, and I would love to hear other storys of those of you dealing with Autism with your children or family member!! Remember that sharing stories is also in a way a support group for those of us who live with this difficulty everyday as moms and parents of children with Autism. MY SON HAS AUTISM, AUTISM DOES NOT HAVE MY SON!!!!

Here is my attempt to start awarness in Autism by creating pins that can be worn in support! Proceeds will be donated to Autism research. This is only my first attempt please keep that in mind, I am just trying to get the word out. These are far from perfect and may change depending on the work I will do to perfect the ideas of these pins and any other items I create. They will all be homemade and each unique. Please share your ideas or comments all are welcome! Enjoy!

Okay so it is really the second week of school going on the third, but me getting a blog in on time? Phffff! Wouldnt want everyone to get used to that LOL!! Dieter started kindergarden and is having a blast! He is learning all kinds of things and despite all the meeting I have had to have with the school things are going fairly well. We are still fighting to get him a para-educater, but hopefully soon will have one. He is loving catching the bus in the mornings despite his mommy in pjs and fruffled hair. (LOL I remember the threats of that when I was young) He is learning all kinds of words and poams. Although he dosnt talk much about school he loves being known as one of the "school kids"! Brother loves walking him to the bus stop and then asking 1000 times where Dieter is. I am getting used to it although it is tough sending your first born to school. Although I have learned that what I thought would be peaceful mornings with just Tyler turned out to be twice the trouble. He is sooooooo 3 and getting into everything without help from his bro. Thus the nickname of the instigater. LOL. He is a monster but it is good bonding time most of the time :) for us!

"Where du at" "Kalifora?"

Dieter on the Merry Go Round,,, The fam dam!

Yep they let them drive the train I was shocked to Tyler finished off the slushie with a nice look

Tram Ride, the boys loved but not so much on eachothers lap LOL
This is before the Monkeys on the bed insued!

Wow! Where do I start, Well Shannon and Ryan came down and we had wonderful visit! We started it off by staying the night at a four star hotel (yes they let my boys in I was shocked too lol), and going on the tram, and to a ski resort where the boys got to ride rides!! Oh and who could forget the swimming!!! The boys sure do love to swim!! Thanks to Shannon we were able to get the rooms at Little America for cheap and feel as if we lived in the lap of luxery, although every word out of my mouth seemed to be "Stop touching that" "Dont play with that" and "Dont jump on the bed"!! Being at a four star hotel in a room full of things that are sooo nice and very breakable is hard for a mom of 2 hard playing boys to take. I was so afraid that they would ruin or break something and Grandpas credit card would get charged and then we would have to see the impending doom nostril flare LOL!!! Just kidding I think he would be ok..... I think!! Anyways lucky we make it out with no damages and everything and everyone in tact! It was so fun that the boys were wore out, but insisted that they not have to go to bed HAHAHAHAH!! They did!! We spent sunday at Grandpas and Grannies playing and enjoying the sun and today the boys got to play again with Shannon and Ryan and Grannie! Seriously you have no idea how much these two have been spoiled in the last 7 days that they are going to think I am a "Mean Mommy" when now that everyone is gone they dont get anything they want. Urggggg here comes normal life again LOL. We also got to spend the day with "My friend Randi" and the fam!! It was so good to see everyone and the kids loved to see eachother!! We all played at the park (well the kids did and Tom and Nick a litte) and had a water fight (Well Nick and Liz took care of that lol) and ate lunch and had good conversation that is long overdue!! It was soooo good to see everyone!! Tom and Jess it was nice to see you guys and see Jackson again he is so cute and doing really well for his age, love that we can relate! Cant wait to see that new baby! Nick and Liz so awesome to see you guys again too! Emma and Izaiyha are so cute and it looks like they are growing so fast!! Randi so so so good to see you again! Thanks for bringing all the fun things for the kids you thought of everything!! You rock grandma!! Far too much time has gone by so lets make a goal that by this time next year we will have a visit all together again K!! No seriously mark it in your calenders, I am not kidding!! :) Ryan and Shannon we will miss you guys soooo much!!! And soon we will come and visit to see the wales as Dieter would say! Mom and Dad we will see you in a couple days, but of course we miss you too!! :) We are so lucky to have such a great family!

TYLER'S 3rd BIRTHDAY!!

So what I have learned each year that no matter how hard you try something will always be eaten partially at some point.....Guess I didnt get the point. LOL So I bake the cakes to make Tyler's Birthday Cake late at night and place them on the stove to cool. Since I have to be at work at 10 I am not worried about the boys getting into them because they will be busy playing while we get ready. How are they even going to notice that there are 2 cakes on the stove, for the smell will surely be gone by then I tell myself. HA!! I was wrong!! So the morning comes and Tyler is first up then Dieter and I mosley my lazy butt out of bed to get ready for work, I shower and everything seems fine. Mmmmm I tell myself this year must be different. Again HA!!! So I turn my music on to listen to and proceed to keep a watchful eye on the boys or so I thought while I get ready. What happens next..the named shall be inocent until proven guilty......Tyler proceeds to the kitchen pulls the chair over to the sink to once again play in the dishes and water which for the 1000000th time he has been told is naughty. (Hence the large water mess last week and the flooded bathroom last month) He must have spotted the cakes sitting so lonely on the stove. He pulls the chair over and continues to take fist fulls out of the cake and shove them into to his ever piggish mouth! I while getting ready hear Dieter come into the kitchen and tell Tyler that he needed some, (not so nicely may I add) and off I go to examine the damage. I pull the lingering cake out of Tylers fist and proceed to fit the remaining peices back into the cake best I can and then I have to laugh...... Aparently the kids every year must taste the cake and treats before feeding them to family to make sure mom hasnt done anything weird to it. I am convinced that is what it must me. Thus the waterfall in the winnie the pooh cake............LOL he had a awesome birthday!!! Lots of fun and presents and of course CAKE!! LOL Here is some pics!

Our Next Try

Okay so Josie and I decided to try again this time with out the boys since they were all not home and decided to go to Rock Springs and shop. At this point we left and drove all the way ate to much and shopped very little. LOL we tryed on sunglasses and had lots of laughs! We drove back 2 hours later and went to a rodeo and spent the night out! Thus we have decided that as long as we have fun it was worth it right? LOL we did have fun!
